The program is conducted at the Tsongas Centre inside UMass Lowell’s campus, a 40-minute drive from downtown Boston. While the program’s final schedule is continually adjusted until the day the Congress begins, The Academy provides a preliminary schedule on its website around three months before the big day. Most individuals who apply have a GPA of 3.5 or higher, submitting documents that include their received awards and honors, extracurricular activities, biographical information, letters of recommendation, and essays. You’ll have the opportunity to interact with and learn from top medical professionals, gaining insight into what it takes to be a successful doctor.

Once you complete the Congress program, you’ll receive the Award of Excellence, which can be integrated into your medical school and college applications, internship, job applications, and scholarships.

Attending the Congress of Future Medical Leaders will cost you $275, which covers the $225 college credit tuition and a $50 Bottega University registration fee.  You must pay this amount if you wish to receive college credit for participating in the program. You also have to take notes, attend all sessions, and submit a reflection essay on the Congress to be eligible for the credit. This credit can be transferred to other universities or colleges that accept transfer credits issued by Bottega University.

Luckily, this once-in-a-lifetime educational experience can be attended even if you can’t afford it. Teachers who serve on the Congress’s Honorary Board of Educators from all over the country grant scholarships that amount to hundreds of thousands of dollars, and partial scholarships based on financial needs are also offered. You can also finance the various accessible services provided by the Academy, which include:

  • Opportunities for students to be mentored by medical students and physicians
  • Communications for students and parents with information regarding career guidance, college acceptance and finances, internships, skill acquisition, and much more

  • A PC free of viruses that can run the most recent versions of internet applications and browsers.
  • A microphone to engage in the program’s breakout sessions. While most computers come with a microphone, you can invest in a USB-connected headset if yours does not.
